DREAMS TAKE FLIGHT: original painting
This painting began as a sample to display at a paint party to show the guests what they would be painting. However, as I began to work on it, I realized it could not be completed in the usual two or three hours of a typical paint party, so I just turned it into this for my own pleasure. I stayed with the three primary colors to mix all the resulting colors you see, along with white and a little black. When I finished, I couldn’t think of a name for it, so I held a “Name this painting” contest on Facebook. I chose Evelyn's name as the winner.
As a Christian artist, I try to see the spiritual side of my work and add scriptures with my art to bless others. My art does not always seem to have a spiritual theme. Yet, I see God’s handiwork in everything around me. Artists have to study the details, so this helps me notice the intricate detail in nature’s design. As I paint, I see a glimpse of His divine design and I learn things about God that I was not even looking for.
Evelyn was inspired to dream lofty thoughts as she looked at this picture. Dreams are one of the ways that God tries to reach us, even when we do not know him. Don’t give up on your dreams, but let Jesus lift you higher into a closer intimacy with Him.
“The reason the dream was given to Pharaoh in two forms is that the matter has been firmly decided by God, and God will do it soon.”
Genesis 41:32
