Sounds like: a pear comb eye
This painting was painted during church services at my home church in March 2015. I used acrylic paints and iridescent accents to give it more shine. I wanted it to show the power of the Holy Spirit that exudes from within us when we yield our lives to Jesus.
Before Jesus ascended back to Heaven, He told his followers to wait in Jerusalem until they received His power (Luke 24:29) and after they did, they would be able to do greater works than Jesus did. (John 14:12)
Phonetic Spelling: (ep-er’-khom-ahee). It sounds like “a pear comb eye”. Eperchomai comes from two Greek words epi and erxomai. Erxomai “come” and epi, “on, fitting”. Combined together it means to come upon, come in, or overtake. It is the epicenter of the coming, with results that build upon the initial coming. It stresses the lasting results of the coming-even more than the initial impact of the coming itself.
The Holy Spirit inspired men to write the Bible. When the Holy Spirit came upon Mary, she conceived Jesus. When the Holy Spirit came upon Jesus, He was empowered to start his ministry. When the Holy Spirit came upon the people in the book of Acts, they spread the Gospel around the world. Today the Holy Spirit is intensifying from its initial impact and about to explode upon the world scene as the return of Jesus, the Messiah, gets closer and closer. Hallelujah!
A white dove has been symbolic of the Holy Spirit ever since the time when Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, his cousin. When John the Baptist baptized Jesus, he tried to describe what he saw. He saw something come down from heaven that looked like a white dove descending upon Jesus. Since that time, white doves have been symbolic of the Holy Spirit. Before Jesus ascended into heaven after his resurrection from death, he told his disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they received power from on high.
Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
