Strange Fruit
Nancy Cupp
20 x 16 inches
acrylic painting on hardboard
The original painting is a still life painting of unusual fruits I found at the grocery story one day. I had never seen a fruit called a Buddha's Hand before, nor the horned melon, so I bought them and took them home to set up for a still life study. I gathered some things around the house like my stemmed glassware that was my mother's, a red and blue cloth, a persimmon, and star fruit. Our grocery store doesn't usually sell these kinds of fruits, so I was excited to use them for a still life.
This is the original painting.
