The Story of Symphony
Symphony is a painting of imaginary yellow, red, and orange flowers with criss crossed purple lines against a pink background making a harmonious joyful “sound”.
Symphony literally means agreeing together of harmonious sounds. A symphony orchestra is large, with many musicians playing different instruments, some topping over a hundred members. I love symphonies. They stir the senses and tell a magnificent story. Many different musical instruments and musicians come together to create a beautiful, harmonious sound.
Symphony is usually thought of as a musical term, but it can also combine various colors together, like various musical instruments in an orchestra. As I paint, I try to use colors that go well together, but sometimes the tension of other colors gives it more spice and added interest.
1 Chronicles 23:1 When David was old and full of years, he made his son Solomon king over Israel.
4 David said, “Of these, twenty-four thousand are to be in charge of the work of the temple of the Lord and six thousand are to be officials and judges. 5 Four thousand are to be gatekeepers and four thousand are to praise the Lord with the musical instruments I have provided for that purpose.”
King David and Solomon employed the largest group of musicians ever for temple worship. Now that’s a symphony!
